Help Me - Tuesday, December 29, 2015

Today, I had the privilege of spending a little time with a precious lady who entrusted our funeral home with the care of her daughter. She shared with me stories of how innocent her daughter was through life. See, her daughter fought against all odds to defy a mental handicap. However, through the struggles she faced she consistently sought to please the Lord by allowing Him to use her to bless others.

This lady received her ultimate healing Dec. 4, 2015. Her mom, Ms. Peggy Henderson, shared her dependency on Christ, how when a spirit of grief strikes her, the precious Holy Spirit has been faithful to visit her and bring joy unspeakable and full of glory. Though He has been faithful, she shared with me today that since her daughter passed, she feels that the Spirit of God has convicted her heart. In prayer and meditation today she asked God to reveal the "sin she had committed." She says that God revealed to her it is not what she "comitted" rather what she has "omitted." See, her daughter was faithful to be obedient to that what God called her to do.

Think about that, what are you guilty of omitting not necessarily committing? Has God called you to feed the hungry, yet you were to busy feeding yourself? Or perhaps He simply asked you to stop and pray for someone yet you allowed your pride to interfere and rob you and the other person of the blessing God intended.

What about Jonah, a familiar story to Bible readers, is perhaps the greatest account of omission that immediately comes to mind. Through his disobedience, he was robbing himself and the residents of Nineveh the blessing God had in store.

May the Lord help you and I, to be not only hearers but DOERS of the Word, (James 1:22.) That we commit the call of God on our lives rather than omitting, His plan for us.

Be blessed,

--Josh Edwards
